The Colts haven’t officially been eliminated from postseason contention but they’ve got major issues at quarterback ahead of Sunday’s game versus the Titans.
George Bremer tweeted the Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley handled the “lion’s share” of quarterback reps at practice on Wednesday for the Colts. The team signed Freeman on Tuesday and the last time he started a game occurred in a disastrous 2013 performance on Monday Night Football with the Vikings. He attempted 50 passes that night, completing 23 for just 190 yards.
Andrew Luck has already been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup with the Titans and veteran Matt Hasselbeck is doubtful due to a shoulder injury and various other alignments. Oddsmakers have yet to post a point spread for the 1:00PM ET kickoff in Indianapolis, but chances are the Colts will be a slight underdog.
The Titans have quarterback problems of their own, as starter Marcus Mariota was ruled out for Week 17 due to a knee injury. That means Zach Mettenberger will get another start after completed just 27-of-51 passes for 234 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He padded his stats in garbage time as the Titans were crushed 34-6 by the Texans in Week 16.
