The Atlanta Falcons are in a freefall both straight up and against the spread in their last eight weeks.
With their 23-19 loss as a 1-point road underdog to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Falcons have now failed to cover the spread in eight consecutive weeks. As you can imagine, it’s the longest such streak in the NFL.
Things started to unravel for the previously 5-0 Falcons in New Orleans on a Thursday night in October. That night, Atlanta lost 31-21 as a 3-point favorite when it turned the ball over several times in the first half. Turnovers have been a huge problem for Matt Ryan and Co., which has now lost five-straight games to go along with their 0-8 ATS streak.
Up until Sunday, oddsmakers were still listing the Falcons as favorites, too. In seven of their eight games during their ATS losing streak, the Falcons were favored to win the game. The highest spread was -8 versus the Bucs in Atlanta (a 23-20 overtime loss), while the smallest spread was -2 two weeks ago versus the Vikings (a 20-10 loss).
The Falcons won’t be favored on Sunday in Charlotte. The undefeated Panthers are currently a 7.5-point home favorite according to oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu.
