DALLAS, TX (The Spread) – Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is confident that potential holdout player Dez Bryant will play in Week 1.
Both Bryant and his agent have said publicly that the receiver is willing to sit out regular season games if the Cowboys don’t give him a contract extension in the range of Calvin Johnson’s deal. But Jones showed zero concerns about Bryant’s playing status when speaking to the media on Wednesday.
“I have no doubt that he’ll be leading the way against the New York Giants,” said Jones. “We just know how competitive Dez is and how much he wants to beat the Giants and how much he wants to support his teammates.”
Jones hasn’t been shy about giving his players new contracts and with the impact that Bryant can make in the Cowboys’ offense, it doesn’t make sense for Jones to be stingy now. It’s just a matter of time before Bryant is handed a new deal.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Cowboys are currently 10/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl.
