EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – Apparently the interview between the Jets and head-coaching candidate Doug Marrone could have gone smoother.
According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Marrone’s interview with the Jets over the weekend “did not go well.” This news comes as a bit of a surprise seeing as how Marrone was viewed as a slam dunk for the Jets after he opted out of his contract with the Buffalo Bills.
Per La Canfora, Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is now “well positioned” to land the coaching job with the Jets, although the team may have to wait a while as Seattle continues its quest to win back-t0-back Super Bowls.
As for Marrone, he has drawn interest from both the Bears and Falcons in recent days and should wind up with a coaching job somewhere. The 49ers and Raiders also have openings, although if he’s rubbing people the wrong way in East Rutherford then the brass in San Francisco may take a pass.
