CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – While making an appearance on ESPN’s MNF halftime show, Chris Mortensen reported that Johnny Manziel is expected to start in Week 15.
Cleveland coach Mike Pettine hinted on Monday evening that he was ready to make a switch to the rookie Manziel, who has made an appearance in a Week 13 game but did not start in Week 14 against the Colts. Instead, Brian Hoyer made another start and struggled, going 14-of-31 for 140 yards with two interceptions in a 25-24 loss.
“I think it’s natural to lean the other way, given the results, but we still want to make sure we do our due diligence and I get a chance to talk to everybody involved with it,” Pettine said.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the game between the Bengals and Browns in Week 15 is currently a pick’em. The line could move, of course, if Manziel is officially named the starter leading up to kickoff. The current over/under is sitting at 44 points.
