DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – The under has been a hot trend when the Pirates take on the Tigers and the two teams will meet again tonight at Comerica Park.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Pirates and Tigers both have -104 odds on the money line for tonight’s 7:08PM ET start time. As for the total, it’s sitting at 8.5 and considering the under has been a hot trend between these two teams, there’s seemingly some value in that number tonight.
The Pirates will throw Vance Worley, who is 5-1 with a 2.30ERA and is a perfect 3-0 since the All-Star break. He’s allowed a total of three earned runs in four starts, which includes a start in which he went seven innings to beat the Padres in his last outing. The Tigers, meanwhile, will start Buck Farmer, who will be making his big league debut after being promoted from Double-A Erie on Monday.
The under is 9-1-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams when they clash in Detroit and 10-3 in the last 13 meetings overall. The under is also 7-3 in the Tigers’ last 10 games overall, 11-5 in their last 16 interleague games versus a right-handed starter and 6-0 in their last six games as an underdog.
On the other side, the under is 17-8 in the Pirates’ last 25 games versus AL Central opponents, 4-1 in their last five games following a win and 10-4-1 in their last 15 games on Wednesday. The under is also 5-2-1 in the Pirates’ last eight games after they allowed two runs or less in their previous contest. On Tuesday night these two teams played to a 4-2 final as the combined score fell under the posted total at 8.5.
