CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – The Cubs host the Brewers tonight in what should be a low-scoring game at Wrigley Field.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are +100 money line home underdogs versus the Brewers, who are -108 money line road favorites. The total for this 8:05PM ET start time is currently sitting at 7 runs.
The Cubs will start Jake Arrieta, who is 6-3 with a 2.80 ERA and is coming off one of his worst outings of the season (if not his career) after getting crushed for nine runs on 13 hits over five innings in a loss to the Rockies. The Brewers will counter with Yovani Gallardo, who is 6-6 with a 3.54 ERA and is 8-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 17 career starts against the Cubs.
The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Chicago and 5-0 in the Brewers’ last five road games versus a team with a losing home record. The under is also 6-0 in the Brewers’ last six games versus a team with a losing record, 8-0 in their last eight games following a loss and 5-1 in Gallardo’s last six road starts.
On the other side, the under is 4-1-1 in the Cubs’ last six games as a home underdog and 3-0-1 in their last four home games.
