MILWAUKEE, WI (The Spread) – NL Central rivals clash in Milwaukee tonight when the struggling Brewers host the Cardinals at 8:10PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are -105 money line road favorites over the Brewers, who are -103 money line home dogs. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 8.5 runs after it opened at 7.5 at most online sports books.
The Brewers are 4-0 in Wily Peralta’s last four starts versus the Cardinals, 7-1 in his last eight home starts versus a team with a winning record and 4-1 in his last five home starts. They’re also 7-2 in his last nine starts as a home underdog, 11-5 in his last 16 starts overall and 7-1 in his last eight starts after allowing five runs or more in their previous game.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, are 0-8 in Michael Wacha’s last eight road starts, 1-4 in his last five starts versus a team with a winning record and 0-6 in his last six starts as a road favorite. The Cards are also just 1-4 in their last five games as a road favorite, 2-5 in his last seven road games versus a right-handed starter and 2-7 in his last nine games following a quality start.
Heading into tonight the Cardinals own a 3-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central as Milwaukee has lost eight games in a row. But according to the recent trends, the Brew Crew might be a nice value play tonight.
