SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – Even though two struggling offenses will meet today in San Francisco, the over could be a solid play for bettors.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are -168 money line home favorites over the Phillies today, while Philadelphia is a +155 money line road dog. The total for this 4:05PM ET start is currently sitting at 7.5 runs.
David Buchanan will take the mound for the Phillies today sporting a 6-6 record and a 4.40 ERA, while Tim Lincecum will toe the rubber for the Giants. Since July 22, Lincecum has given up at least five runs in three of his last four outings and once again has gone back to looking like a shell of his former self.
Armed with that information, the over looks like a solid play today for bettors, and recent trends back that claim. The over is 4-1 in the lat five meetings between these two teams in San Francisco and 4-1 in Lincecum’s last five home starts against the Phillies. The over is also 6-2 in Lincecum’s last eight starts against the Phillies.
Speaking of Lincecum, the Giants are just 1-4 in the two-time Cy Young winner’s last five home starts against the Phillies. That said, Philadelphia is just 2-6 in its last six games versus San Francisco so the over remains the best play on the board.
