MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – Following the Nationals’ collapse last night versus the Marlins, the two teams might be in store for another high-scoring affair tonight.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Nationals are -137 money line favorites over the Marlins, who are +126 money line home underdogs. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 7 runs for tonight’s 7:10PM ET start time.
Stephen Strasburg will take the hill for the Nats sporting a 7-8 record with a 3.67ERA. He’s also 7-4 with a 4.17 ERA in 16 career starts against the Marlins, who will start Henderson Alvarez tonight. Alvarez is 7-5 with a 2.62 ERA and has allowed two or fewer runs in 14 of his last 18 starts.
The over is 4-0 in Strasburg’s last four road starts against the Marlins and 5-0-1 in his last six starts versus Miami overall. The over is also 7-1 in their last eight games between these two teams and 12-3-1 in the last 16 games in Miami.
The over is also 6-1 in the Marlins’ last seven home games versus a right-handed starters, 4-1 in their last five home games and 4-1 in Alvarez’s last five starts overall. On the other side, the over is 4-1-1 in Strasburg’s last six starts with five days of rest, 12-3-1 in his last 16 starts versus NL East opponents and 7-2-2 in his last 11 starts during Game 2 of a series.
