CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – The pitching matchup today in Cleveland between the Tigers and Indians is solid but that doesn’t mean the game will be low-scoring.
The Tigers will send David Price to the hill today to oppose the Indians’ Corey Kluber. Price is 12-10 on the year with a 3.32 ERA, although he’s just 1-2 with a 4.41 ERA in five starts since Detroit acquired him from Tampa Bay. Kluber, meanwhile, is having a breakout year while posting a 13-8 record and a 2.52 ERA.
Despite the potential solid pitching matchup, the over has been cashing for bettors in this matchup. The over is 8-0 in the last eight meetings between these teams in Cleveland and 8-3 in the last 11 meetings overall. The over is also 6-1-1 in the Tigers’ last eight road games, 4-1 in their last five road games versus a right-handed starter, and 8-3 in their last 11 games as a road underdog.
The under has been cashing routinely in Indians games of late, including in all four of Kluber’s last four starts and in all seven of his last seven outings following a team loss in its previous game. But those trends might be forced to flip today given the matchup.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Indians are -119 money line favorites over the Tigers, who are +110 money line road dogs. The total for today’s 4:05PM ET start time is currently sitting at 7 runs.
