BOSTON, MA (The Spread) – The Red Sox are favored tonight versus the Blue Jays but the underdog might be the better play.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Red Sox are -135 money line favorites over the Blue Jays, who are +125 money line underdogs. The total for tonight’s 7:10PM ET start time is currently sitting at 8.5 runs.
The Blue Jays will send R.A. Dickey to the hill tonight to oppose Clay Buchholz of the Red Sox. Dickey is 8-10 on the year and 4.04 ERA and is 0-1 with a 6.91 ERA in five career games with one start at Fenway Park. Buchholz, meanwhile, is 5-6 with a 5.50 ERA and currently has a 6.32 ERA in seven home starts this year.
The Red Sox are 1-4 in Buchholz’s last five starts against the Blue Jays and 0-5 in his last five home starts against Toronto. The Blue Jays are also 7-1 in their last eight games versus the Red Sox overall and 4-1 in their last five games in Boston.
The Jays are also 5-1 in their last six games overall after a successful trip to New York over the weekend. They’re 4-1 in their last five games versus a right-handed starter, 5-1 in their last six games versus AL East opponents and 5-1 in their last six games versus a team with a losing record. On the other side, the Red Sox are 1-5 in their last six games overall and 1-5 in their last six versus AL East opponents.
