SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – The Phillies have had their fair share of issues with the Giants recently but San Fran has struggled as of late. The two teams clash tonight at 10:15PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are -154 money line favorites over the Phillies, who are +142 money line underdogs. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 6 runs for tonight’s game.
The Phillies will start Cole Hamels, who is 6-6 with a 2.37 ERA and has been outstanding of late. He has a 0.73 ERA over his last five starts and is 6-3 with a 3.53 ERA in 13 career starts against the Giants. That said, Philadelphia has had plenty of issues against San Francisco of late.
The Phillies are just 2-5 in Hamels’ last seven starts against the Giants and 1-5 in their last six games overall versus San Fran. They’re also 1-5 in their last six games overall, 0-4 in their last four road games, 1-4 in their last five games as an underdog and 3-8 in their last 11 games following an off day.
The Giants, meanwhile, will start ace Madison Bumgarner, who is 13-9 with a 3.22 ERA this season after getting off to a hot start. He’s struggled at home this year, going 4-6 with a 5.60 ERA in 11 starts, although he has a 2.89 ERA in four career starts versus Philadelphia so something has to give.
