MLB Postseason Trends: Angels perfect when Weaver faces Royals

LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – After winning a thriller over the A’s on Tuesday night can the Royals overcome some recent trends to top Jered Weaver and the Angels tonight in Game 1 of the ALDS?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Angels are -175 money line favorites over the Royals, who are +161 money line road underdogs. The total for tonight’s 9:00PM ET start time is currently sitting at 8 runs.

As previously mentioned, Weaver will start for the Angels and that bodes well for L.A. based on recent trends. The Halos are 6-0 in Weaver’s last six starts versus the Royals, who are just 3-7 in their last 10 games versus the Angels. The Angels are also 6-1 in Weaver’s last seven starts with the total set between 7 and 8.5 runs, 13-3 in his last 16 Thursday starts and 8-2 in his last 10 starts with five days of rest.

The Royals, meanwhile, are 1-4 in Jason Vargas’ last five starts with the total set between 7 and 8.5 runs, 1-5 in his last six road starts and 0-4 in his last four starts overall. They’re also 5-21 in their last 26 games as a road underdog of between +151 and +200, 2-5 in Vargas’ last seven starts as a road underdog and 0-6 in his last six starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
