DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – The Mariners picked up a win last night versus the Tigers and will have their ace on the mound tonight for Game 2 of the series.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are -106 money line favorites over the Mariners, who are -102 money line underdogs. The total for tonight’s 7:08PM ET start time is currently sitting at 6.5 runs.
The Mariners will start ace Felix Hernandez, who is 13-3 with a 1.95 ERA and is coming off 16 straight starts of seven innings or more. He’s also allowed just two earned runs or fewer over that same span as he continues to put together a Cy Young-caliber season. The Tigers will counter with David Price, who is 11-8 with a 3.21 ERA.
The Mariners are 5-1 in Hernandez’s last six road starts against the Tigers and 9-2 in his last 11 starts versus the Tigers overall. The Mariners are also 11-5 in their last 16 games in Detroit, 5-0 in their last five games overall and 6-0 in their last six games versus a team with a winning record.
On the other side, the Tigers are just 4-11 in their last 15 games versus a team with a winning record, 1-4 in their last five games on Saturday and 0-4 in their last four games versus AL West opponents. They’re also 2-5 in their last seven overall and were thoroughly beaten by the Mariners in Game 1 of this series on Friday night.
