The Pirates have struggled against the Reds when Johnny Cueto starts. The Reds are 4-0 in Cueto’s last four starts versus the Pirates and 11-4 in his last 15 road starts versus Pittsburgh. While Cincinnati has struggled of late, the team is 11-4 in Cueto’s last 15 overall starts, 14-4 in his last 18 starts on Sunday and 39-17 in his last 56 starts following a quality start in his last appearance.
The Pirates, meanwhile, are just 2-6 in Francisco Liriano’s last eight starts versus the Reds and 0-5 in his last five starts overall. They’re also 0-4 in his last four starts as a favorite, 1-4 in his last five starts with five days of rest and 1-5 in his last six starts versus a team with a losing record.
At +115, the Reds could be a nice value play for bettors looking for a quality underdog today.
