Monday Night Football Betting: Texans have struggled covering on MNF

PITTSBURGH, PA (The Spread) – The spread is on the move in Pittsburgh for tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup in favor of the Texans, despite the fact that Houston has struggled on MNF.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Steelers are now 2.5-point favorites over the Texans for tonight’s 8:30PM ET Monday Night Football matchup. Pittsburgh was favored by as much as 4 points last week but the spread dropped to 3, which is where it stood up until a couple of hours before kickoff. As for the total, it opened at 44.5 and is now sitting at 44.

Despite the line moving in their favor, the Texans have struggled historically to cover on Monday night. They’re 0-6 against the spread in their last six games on Monday night and failed to cover in another primetime spot last week when they were beaten by the Colts at home. Houston is also 5-11 against the number in its last 16 games versus AFC opponents and 1-4 ATS in its last five games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.

As for the Steelers, they’re 5-1 against the spread in their last six games in Week 7, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games in October and 4-0 ATS in their last four games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game. They’re also 4-1 ATS in their last five games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.

Even though the Steelers are 2-4 at the betting window this year and the Texans are the exact opposite at 4-2 ATS, Pittsburgh is still a solid bet at home. J.J. Watt could be a major issue as always, but Le’Veon Bell should still be effective in the running game and Ben Roethlisberger should have a better showing offensively than he did a week ago versus Cleveland. Expect a cleaner game for the Steelers.
