NFL Report: Larry Fitzgerald could be playing final game for Cardinals

CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – When the Cardinals take the field today to play the Panthers in the Wildcard round of the playoffs, it could be Larry Fitzgerald’s final game for Arizona.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Cardinals are expected to ask Fitzgerald to take a pay cut this offseason. The receiver is owed $16.26 million in salary and bonuses in 2015, which includes an $8 million roster bonus if he’s still a Cardinal on the fifth day of the league year.

Fitz will carry a $23.6 million cap hit if he’s still with the team in 2015, which is a high number for a player that is on the backside of his career. If Fitzgerald isn’t thrilled with his role in Bruce Arians’ offense, he could force the team to cut him this offseason.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are 6-point road underdogs versus the Panthers today at 4:30PM ET.
