NASHVILLE, TN (The Spread) – Running back Chris Johnson is expected to play this week for the Titans, but even his head coach admitted that his star might not “be himself.”
“We’re assuming [Jamie] Harper will get more carries than he normally would – just because we’re assuming C.J. will be somewhat not himself,” Tennessee coach Mike Munchak told the media on Wednesday. “Today was encouraging because ven he thought he would be sorer than he was. Again, it’s the old ‘he’s progressing like you’d hoped he would.’ We’ll see how he is (Thursday) when he starts doing some cutting. If he doesn’t have any soreness from that, then we should be in good shape.”
Munchak originally stated on Monday that Johnson’s ankle sprain wasn’t serious. But Johnson admitted on Tuesday that cutting on the ankle was an issue and that he may not be 100-percent. He sat out of practice again on Wednesday but is planning to do more on Thursday so this is a situation that will just have to be monitored throughout the week.
The Titans will host the 4-10 Jacksonville Jaguars at 1:00PM ET on Saturday. Oddsmakers have installed the Titans as 7.5-point favorites over their AFC South Division rivals, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 40 points.
According to latest NFL trends, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams and 8-0 in the Titans’ last eight games overall. The under is also 4-0 in the Titans’ last four home games and 10-4 in the Jaguars’ last 14 games overall.
