NFL Week 17: Colts’ Hilton practices, Falcons’ Jackson held out

LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – While the Colts are likely to have one of their key offensive pieces for Week 17, the Falcons could be without their starting running back.

Indianapolis receiver T.Y. Hilton practiced for the second straight day on Wednesday after he did practice at all last week due to a hamstring injury. He’s on track to start for the Colts on Sunday when they travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans. How motivated the Colts will be despite already clinching a playoff spot is the question, although coach Chuck Pagano said that his starters will play.

In Atlanta, Steven Jackson did not practice for the second straight day as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury suffered last week in the team’s win over the Saints. Atlanta also signed running back Jerome Smith off their practice squad, which could be an indication that Jackson won’t be able to play in the Falcons’ crucial NFC South matchup with the Panthers. If Jackson doesn’t play, Jacquizz Rodgers and rookie Devonta Freeman will see an increased workload.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Colts are 7.5-point road favorites over the Titans for their game on Sunday while the Falcons are 4-point home faves versus the Panthers. The winner of that Atlanta-Carolina matchup will win the NFC South and host a playoff game next weekend.
