Panthers lose defensive tackle Star Lotulelei to broken foot

SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) – The Panthers’ odds of winning in Seattle this Saturday just got worse.

View NFL Divisional Round Playoff Odds

Carolina defensive tackle Star Lotulelei suffered a broken foot in the team’s Wildcard victory over the Cardinals last weekend and will miss the reminder of the playoffs. Lotulelei is one of the anchors of the Panthers’ defensive line, so the injury is a huge blow to the team’s Super Bowl hopes.

The loss of Lotulelei will be felt even more this weekend when the Panthers are tasked with the mission of slowing down Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch. Without Lotulelei, fellow defensive tackle Kawann Short and reserves Dwan Edwards and Colin Cole will have their hands full trying to contain Lynch.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are currently 11-point road underdogs for Saturday night’s playoff game with the Seahawks. The current over/under is sitting at 40.5.
