(The Spread) – As the NHL playoffs draw closer, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 2013 Stanley Cup odds continue to rise.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Penguins’ odds have gone from 4/1 last week to 15/4 heading into Sunday’s NHL action. With a division title and a playoff berth already locked up, the Penguins will now look to hang onto the top spot in the Eastern Conference. As of this posting, they’re seven points ahead of Montreal in the standings.
The Blackhawks, meanwhile, are 9/2 to win the 2013 Stanley Cup, while the Bruins are now 9/1. The Ducks and Canadiens are both 10/1, respectively, while the Canucks are 12/1 and the Kings are 14/1. The Blues are 16/1, while the Wild, Rangers, Sharks and Capitals are all 20/1 to win, respectively.
Last week Chicago was 5/1 to win the Stanley Cup while the Bruins were 9/1 (same as now). The Ducks, meanwhile, were 11/1 so their odds have improved slightly, while the Habs’ odds were also 11/1. The Canucks were 14/1, the Kings were 14/1, and the Blues were 20/1 but have since won six of their last seven and are climbing in the Western Conference.
Continuing with the latest Stanley Cup odds, the Maple Leafs are 22/1 while the Senators 30/1 and the Red Wings are 40/1. A slew of teams are 50/1, respectively, including the Blue Jackets, Stars, Islanders and Jets, while the Coyotes are 60/1 and the Devils are 66/1. The Oilers are 75/1, the Sabres are 100/1, and the Predators and Flyers are both 150/1, respectively. The Lightning are 200/1, the Hurricanes are 250/1, and the Flames are the current long shots at 500/1.
