Due to Barry Zito’s horrid display of pitching in April, the San Francisco Giants decided to move his overpaid ass into the bullpen. Who replaces him? Twenty-six year old Patrick Misch, who’s currently sporting a 3.00 ERA and four strikeouts in just 6.0 innings of work. He’ll start Friday night in Philadelphia against Kyle Kendrick.
Will the Phils cruise tonight? Well if how Misch pitched last year was any indication – yes.
In four starts last year, Misch allowed 47 hits, 19 earned runs and three home runs in 40.1 innings of work. He also finished 0-4 with an ERA of 4.24.
Online sportsbook Bodog has two interesting prop bets for tonight’s Phillies-Giants game.
Team to score first in the game:
AND
Will there be a run scored in the first inning?
As for the first prop bet (Team to score first in the game), the Giants are dead last in runs scored this year. On the flip side, the Phillies are eighth in runs scored and could jump on Misch early at home. Philadelphia –125 might be a good play.
The second prop bet (Will there be a run scored in the first inning) might be where the money is. In four of Kendrick’s five starts this season, at least one team has scored a run in the first inning. And in the only game Kendrick pitched that didn’t have a run scored in the first (4/21 at Colorado), the Rockies scored three runs in the second. Based on those five games, Kendrick is either getting off to a terrible start or the Phillies are spotting him runs early. Either way, Yes –115 on whether or not runs will be scored in the first inning might be the best prop bet this game has to offer.
Here are some trends on tonight’s game:
– PHILADELPHIA is 27-12 (+13.7 Units) against the money line at home when the total is 10 to 10.5 over the last 2 seasons.
– SAN FRANCISCO is 621-504 (+86.3 Units) against the money line in night games since 1997.
– SAN FRANCISCO is 341-327 (+38.2 Units) against the money line in road games against right-handed starters since 1997.
