The already banged-up Rams will be down a couple of more starters on defense when they host the Lions on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome.
On Wednesday the Rams placed defensive end Robert Quinn on season-ending injured reserve due to a back injury that has plagued him for weeks. Quinn will undergo surgery this week after appearing in just eight games. He had been sidelined since Week 10 and finished with 21 tackles and five sacks in what can only be described as a down season. Along with Aaron Donald, Quinn was the Rams’ top pass-rusher.
The team also placed starting strong safety T.J. McDonald on injured reserve, effectively ending his season as well. He’ll undergo shoulder surgery and miss the Rams’ final four games.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Rams are a 1-point home favorite over the Lions for 1:00PM ET on Sunday. Even though Detroit is coming off a gut-wrenching loss to Green Bay on a Hail Mary pass with no time on the clock, the Lions will be facing a St. Louis team that won’t have Quinn, McDonald, and most likely Trumaine Johnson (thigh) and Janoris Jenkins (concussion).
That’s the Rams’ top pass rusher, their starting strong safety, and both starting cornerbacks.
