San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies 4/14/16 MLB Prediction

Will yet another game fall under the total in Philadelphia when the Phillies host the Padres at 1:05PM ET? We make our prediction below.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Phillies are -115 money line favorites versus the Padres, who have odds of -105 to pull off the small upset today in Philly. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 7 runs, down from the opening number of 7.5.

Bet Today’s Padres vs. Phillies Game

Vincent Velasquez, who dazzled in his season debut versus the Mets last Saturday, will make his second start for Philadelphia. He struck out nine Mets over six shutout innings while scattering three hits and three walks over those six scoreless frames. Velasquez was part of the package for reliever Ken Giles this past offseason and thus far, the 23-year-old right-hander is off to a good start.

On the other side today is Drew Pomeranz, who struck out seven and earned his first win of the new MLB season with a victory over the Rockies. Pomeranz won a spot in San Diego’s starting rotation despite a shaky spring performance and he rewarded the team with a victory in his debut. Command can be an issue at times for Pomeranz, but the strikeout total for his first time out was impressive.

OUR PREDICITON: After the two sides combined to score just three runs on Wednesday, the under is now 4-1-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia. The under is also 4-1 in the Phillies’ last five games overall and 4-0 in the Padres’ last four games. With hitters like Ryan Howard in a .192/.267/.423 struggle at the plate, look for the under to cash again today in Philly.

THURSDAY MLB PREDICTION: PADRES/PHILLIES UNDER 7
