Rams star rookie running back Todd Gurley has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday’s 4:25PM ET kickoff against the 49ers.
“We’ve listed Todd today as doubtful, so you can read between the lines there,” said coach Jeff Fisher on Friday. “We’re thinking about the long-term future and he’s got an issue he’s dealing with. We’re still doing tests, but the difference between him playing and making things worse could be the difference between six to eight weeks of rehab during the offseason.
Right now we got really good news and good results, but it’s doubtful that he plays.”
Despite Gurley’s status, the Rams remain 3-point road favorites versus the 49ers according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 37 points after opening at 37.5.
The Rams have won three consecutive games and have an opportunity to finish with an 8-8 record and an 8-7-1 mark against the spread with a win on Sunday. The 49ers enter play with a 4-11 record and are 6-9-1 against the spread this season.
