The Dallas Cowboys’ slim playoff hopes crumbled on Thanksgiving Day when they were routed by the undefeated Carolina Panthers.
Adding injury to insult, ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that Tony Romo is out for the season after injuring his collarbone in the loss. The results of a CT scan taken on Friday are expected to reveal that Romo re-fractured his left clavicle following a Thomas Davis sack. Thursday was Romo’s second game back from his original collarbone injury, which was suffered in Week 2.
After beating the Dolphins in Week 11, the Cowboys’ Super Bowl odds shot up to 35/1 after being listed at 65/1 before the victory. But following the loss to the Panthers and the injury to Romo, Dallas is now a crushing 300/1 long shot to win this season’s NFL title. In other words, Romo’s season isn’t the only one that is over.
On the other side of the equation is the unbeaten Panthers, who are 11/2 to win the Super Bowl according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag. Those odds are bested by only one other team, the Patriots, who are 11/5 favorites to win it all this season.
