Most of the major media publications have posted breaking news that the Minnesota Vikings have waived Randy Moss. But as more details emerge, it appears as though their head coach may have overstepped his boundaries.
According to published reports, head coach Brad Childress told his players in a private meeting that he was waiving Moss. But he apparently never told his front office, which isn’t completely on board with the decision after giving up a third round pick to acquire him from New England four weeks ago.
Furthermore, the Vikings haven’t officially waived Moss so as the situation sits right now, he’s still a member of the purple and white.
Things could turn ugly for Childress in a hurry. Not only are the Vikings losing, but this was also a major decision that he should have run by the front office first. But now that the media has gotten wind of the story, what are the Vikings to do? They can’t expect that Moss will want to play for Childress, so do they fire him midseason? Do they go on with his decision to waive him? Do they dump both?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Vikings a 9-point favorite over the Cardinals in Week 9. The over/under currently sits at 41 but both the total and the point spread are sure to move with this announcement today.
What a mess in Minnesota.
