(The Spread) – Following Anthony Gonzalez’s controversial yet hardly surprising comments recently about NFL players and the use of HGH, oddsmakers have released new prop odds on the subject.
Earlier this week, Gonzalez, who plays receiver for the Indianapolis Colts, said: “How many guys are on it, that’s hard to say. It could be 10, it could be a hundred or more; either way, it’s too much. But around the league, you see guys on Sunday, and things don’t add up; they don’t look right. I see guys I saw in college, now they’re in the NFL and they look totally different. I don’t know how prevalent it is at this point, but to say that it’s not being used, that’s wrong.”
In wake of these comments, oddsmakers have released prop odds for whether or not an NFL player will test positive for HGH during the 2011 NFL Season, which includes playoffs. A wager on “Yes” has odds of –200 while a wager on “No” has odds of +150.

Also, what will the position of the first player to test positive for HGH during the 2011 NFL Season be? Odds for “Offense” are –110 and odds for “Defense” are –130. A defensive linemen has odds of 5/2 to being the first player to test positive for HGH, while an offensive linemen has odds of 3/1. Wide receiver/Tight end is 4/1, safety/DB is 4/1, running back is 5/1, quarterback is 7/1 and kicker/punter is 10/1.
The NFL is expected to installed HGH testing for next year’s scouting combine in efforts to stop use right from the start. College players looking to improve their draft status will have to weigh the consequences of if they get caught using the drug.
