ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Florida State is a 23.5-point favorite over Syracuse while the over/under total is currently sitting at 54 points. As of this writing, the Seminoles have 76% backing by public bettors.
LINE MOVEMENT: Florida State opened as a 19-point favorite but the spread has jumped all the way up to 23.5 or 24 at some online sports books. As for the total, it opened at 51 and has been bet up to 53.5 or 54, depending on the sports book.
SEASON RECORDS: The Seminoles enter play with a perfect 5-0 record but they’re a brutal 1-4 at the betting window in 2014. On the other side, the Orange are just 2-3 and have failed to cover the spread in four of their first five games. The under is 3-1-1 in Syracuse’s first five games and 3-2 in Florida State’s first five contests.
NCAA FREE PICK: Take the under. According to latest college football trends, the under is 4-0 in the Orange’s last four games following a double-digit loss at home, 6-1 in their last seven games following an ATS loss and 13-6 in their last 19 games in October. The under is also 6-1 in Florida Stae’s last seven games following a straight up win, 6-2 in its last eight games overall and 4-0 in its last four games following a straight up win of more than 20 points. Syracuse lost starting quarterback Terrel Hunt to a broken calf bone late in Friday night’s 28-6 loss to Louisville. That means Austin Wilson and/or A.J. Long will be under center to face that vaunted FSU defense. With center Austin Barron, leading receiver Rashad Greene and leading rusher Karlos Williams also out for the Seminoles, it’s unlikely that a ton of points will be scored in this one.
