ST. LOUIS, MO (TheSpread) – The 2014 NLCS gets underway tonight. Here is a look at the odds and a breakdown of Game 1 of the series.
Game 1 of the NLCS has the St. Louis Cardinals hosting the San Francisco Giants at 8PM ET (View Matchup). The Cardinals are bringing Adam Wainwright to the mound to face Madison Bumgarner of the Giants. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Cardinals are favored to win the opening game of the series, as St. Louis is getting odds of -120 to win, while the Giants are being given a money line of +110 to prevail. The over/under total has been set at 6.5 runs.
St. Louis is 93-73 overall on the season now with its win over the Dodgers in the NLDS. The Cardinals are also 53-30 at home. San Francisco is 92-75 overall with its win over the Nationals in the NLDS. The Giants are 46-38 on the road. These two met seven times during the season, and San Francisco won four of the seven meetings and the road team won five of the seven games. Bumgarner was on the mound for a win and a loss for the Giants while Wainwright was on the mound for a win and a loss as well. These two have hit the under in three of their last five meetings.
