GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – The owners of the Arizona Coyotes are in discussions with a potential new investor to buy a stake in the team.
The New York Post reported Thursday that IceArizona is in the process of selling a majority stake in the team to Philadelphia hedge fund manager Andrew Barroway.
The Coyotes later issued a statement saying IceArizona is in discussions with an unsolicited potential investor who is interested in joining the partnership. The statement said while no deal has been struck, the ownership group is exploring the possibility, adding that no members of the current IceArizona group are departing the ownership.
The Coyotes had gone four years without an owner before IceArizona bought the team from the NHL during the 2013 offseason.
