WASHINGTON (AP) – The San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals headed to the 15th inning tied at 1 Saturday night in Game 2 of their NL Division Series, tying for the third-longest postseason game in baseball history.
Games between the Braves and Mets in the 1999 NL Championship Series, and between the Mariners and Yankees in a 1995 ALDS ended after 15 innings.
The record for a postseason game is the 18 innings played by the Braves and Astros in a 2005 NLDS.
There was a 16-inning game in the 1986 NLCS between the Mets and Astros.
