COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Every year about this time, Urban Meyer talks to his Ohio State team about its place in the college football cosmos.
This week, he had a lot to say.
Not so long ago, after losing by 14 points at home to Virginia Tech in Week Two, the Buckeyes were already all but eliminated from the national title picture. But three consecutive wins – and the carnage that took place last week elsewhere in the Top 25 – now gives Ohio State hope of somehow, some way elbowing its way back into the front row.
Meyer – whose eyes glaze over whenever the talk turns to rankings and title-game hype – brought up the subject this week, first with his 15th-ranked team and then with reporters.
