SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says the ninth-ranked Irish will need to play physical against No. 14 Stanford.
Kelly says the Cardinal (3-1) pushed the Irish (4-0) around during his first season at Notre Dame in 2010.
Stanford has a history of upsetting top 10 Notre Dame teams in South Bend, with two of Stanford’s three victories in 14 tries at Notre Dame Stadium coming against top 10 teams.
There’s no chance of that happening Saturday. Not because the Cardinal can’t win. They’ve beaten the Irish in four of their five last meetings.
It just wouldn’t be an upset because the Cardinal head into the game as 2.5-point favorites.
