Rutschman collects three hits, including solo home run
Adley Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Saturday, leading the Orioles to a 2-1 victory over the Reds. Rutschman spearheaded Baltimore’s offense in a rare low-scoring showdown at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park with his third three-hit effort of the season. He connected for a solo homer to left-center field — his fifth round-tripper of the season — off Reds southpaw Andrew Abbott in the fifth inning, which wound up being the difference in the contest. The 26-year-old franchise cornerstone has gone deep three times in his last eight contests since April 27.
Abbott takes loss to O’s on Saturday
Andrew Abbott surrendered two runs over five innings on Saturday in a loss to the Orioles. Abbott managed to hold Baltimore’s solid lineup to just a pair of solo homers, but it wasn’t enough as his Orioles counterpart John Means reeled off seven shutout frames to saddle him with a loss. He finished with a season-high eight strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. He’ll bring a solid 3.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 35/11 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (seven starts) into a road matchup on Friday against the Giants.
