SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) – The Florida Panthers are going to spend their final few days before the regular season at West Point.
Panthers owner Vincent Viola graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1977, and the team has several West Point graduates and military veterans working in the front office.
Besides hockey, the team has hiking, barbecue, field problem exercises and other events planned for the three-day stay at West Point.
It’s the Panthers’ third visit to West Point for training and team bonding. Several other teams have done so in recent years as well.
The Panthers end the preseason in Tampa Bay on Saturday, and then return to open the regular season there on Thursday.
