New England Patriots DFS Spin
New England starting quarterback Jonathan Jones is dealing with an ankle injury. He logged a limited practice session on Wednesday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Jones had 56 total tackles, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles in 16 games for the Patriots last season.
New England’s other starting cornerback Marcus Jones was placed on injured reserve this past Friday. Jones has a torn labrum and it’s unknown how long he’ll be out. Marcus Jones was a first-team All-Pro last season and led the NFL in punt return yards in 2022.
Patriots starting wide receiver Devante Parker is questionable for Sunday’s game with a knee injury. Parker has 6 catches for 57 yards in one game of action for the Pats this year.
New York Jets DFS Spin
Former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon in the team’s first series of the season two weeks ago. He’ll miss the rest of the regular season with a slim hope of returning for the playoffs. In his stead, the Jets (for now) have elected to play former #2 overall pick Zach Wilson at quarterback. Wilson is 25th in the NFL in QBR this season and he’s tied for the NFL lead with 4 interceptions thrown this year.
Jets free safety Tony Adams left last week’s game with a hamstring injury, and he’s going to miss Sunday’s game against the Patriots with that same ailment. Jets backup left guard Wes Schweitzer is going through concussion protocol, so he’ll miss Sunday’s game as well. That could come into play if New York suffers any injuries to their offensive line in this game.
Patriots vs. Jets Betting Trends
New England is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against the Jets.
Patriots QB Mac Jones is 4-0 ATS against the Jets.
New York is 10-18 ATS over the last decade when starting a backup quarterback.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh is 0-4 ATS against the Patriots.
Patriots vs. Jets Prediction:
The Patriots have beaten the Jets straight up 14 times in a row. New York hasn’t toppled New England since December of 2015. The Patriots will have the coaching advantage as their head coach, Bill Belichick, is probably the greatest NFL coach of all time. The Patriots will also be the more desperate team as they’re already 0-2 with the Cowboys looming next week. New England has to have this game.
The Jets are trotting out Zach Wilson again this week for reasons known only to their front office and coaching staff. Wilson has been and still is one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL and I think the Patriots defense is going to eat him for lunch this weekend. I’ll take the Patriots to make it 15 in a row over the Jets in Jersey on Sunday.
NFL WEEK 3 PREDICTION: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -2.5
