MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) – Dakota Wolf hit Jared Joyner with a 68-yard touchdown pass with 4:16 remaining to send Campbell to a 31-24 victory over Morehead State on Saturday.
The Camels (2-3 overall) are 2-0 in Pioneer Football League play for the first time. The Eagles (2-3, 1-1) reached the Campbell 11 with 1:32 left before turning the ball over on downs.
Wolf threw for 171 yards and rushed for another 116, including a 5-yard score. Campbell led 24-10 after a 91-yard kickoff return by Isaiah Howard in the third quarter.
The Eagles tied the game on an 80-yard drive with 5:12 left, but shortly thereafter Wolf hit Joyner in stride down the right sideline.
Campbell had 141 yards in penalties, but no turnovers while intercepting Morehead State’s Austin Gahafer twice. Gahafer threw for 296 yards and a score. Rees Macshara added 110 yards rushing and a score, and Tanner Napier 110 receiving.
