Wyndham Championship Picks
SEDGEFIELD, NC (TheSpread) – The 2011 Wyndham Championship takes place this week starting on Thursday. We have a few picks to consider for this event.
My pick to win the event this weekend is once again David Toms. According to oddsmakers, Toms has 12/1 odds to win this tournament. The field is pretty weak this weekend, which makes Toms an easy choice. He is the favorite to win and has been one of the hottest golfers on tour. Toms is now 18th in the world rankings as he is coming off back-to-back top-10 finishes. Toms has one win already this year and six top 10’s.
In terms of matchups, I like Ian Poulter (-125) over Jason Dufner (-125). Dufner is coming off his big disappointment last week in the PGA Championship. After the emotional roller coaster he went on, I suspect him to struggle a little bit this week. Poulter is a top-20 golfer and he has one win with three top 10’s. Prior to the PGA Championship, Dufner had missed his last four cuts.
Another matchup I like is Jim Furyk (-135) over Kyle Stanley (-115). Furyk has struggled a bit this year, been more consistent as of late. He was in contention for the PGA Championship heading into the weekend, but is still seeking his first top 10 since the Arnold Palmer Invite. Stanley has finished in the top 10 in two of his last three events, but those were his first of the year. Don’t look for him to repeat that feat. I see Furyk finishing ahead of him this week.
