Fowler set to win major?
After a win in the HSBC Golf Championship on Sunday, is Rickie Fowler ready to take the next step in 2016 and win a major?
Fowler came through with a one-shot victory in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, besting Thomas Pieters for the win while Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy were just two shots off. The win pushes Fowler to fourth in the world rankings and is his fourth win since the start of the 2015 season.
According to oddsmkers from RealBets, Fowler is currently listed with 16/1 odds to claim the 2016 Masters Championship and he also has 16/1 odds in each of the four major championships for the year.
Fowler has yet to win a major championship in his career, but he has definitely been knocking on the door in recent years. Despite going without a win in 2014, he arguably had the best performance in the four combined majors, finishing fifth or better in all of them with two runner-up finishes. Last year, he placed 12th in the Masters and 30th in the British Open and PGA Championship while missing the cut in the U.S. Open. After claiming some wins in tournaments with a lot of top-level talent, Fowler seems to be on his way to winning a major very soon.
