WGC-Mexico Championship Picks
The WGC-Mexico Championship is set to tee off early on Thursday. Here are some golfers we think will contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers at YouWager, Dustin Johnson is the favorite this weekend, as he has 13/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Justin Thomas (8/1), Jon Rahm (11/1) and Jordan Spieth (11/1). The WGC-Mexico Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday from Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan de Juarez, Mexico.
Bet on the WGC-Mexico Championship
Dustin Johnson is hard to pass up this weekend despite being the favorite. DJ is a two-time winner of this event. He also won last year, which was the first year this event was held at this course. Johnson has played in four events this year and he has one win with three top-10 finishes. As the top-ranked player that is playing quite well at the moment, you have to like Johnson this weekend.
Tommy Fleetwood has 16/1 odds to win this weekend and I think he has a lot of value to consider. Fleetwood is 11th in the world rankings, jumping up eight spots over the last handful of months. Fleetwood already has one win this year to go with three top-6 finishes. That is over just four tournaments this year. Fleetwood also did well at this course a year ago, finishing second, one shot behind Johnson.
Don’t look, but Phil Mickelson seems to be making a run up the world rankings. Starting the year 46th, he is now 34th in the rankings. Mickelson has 28/1 odds for this week and I think he can possibly pick up his first win since 2013. Mickelson has finished sixth or better in three straight tournaments. He also performed well at this course last year, placing seventh, four shots from winning. Lefty struggled most of last year, but this was an event he did well at. Given how well he is playing, I see him performing even better this year.
