Rocket Mortgage Classic Picks
The PGA Tour returns to Michigan for the first time in years for the playing of the first-ever Rocket Mortgage Classic this weekend. Here’s three golfers we like to contend for the win.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is the favorite this weekend, as he has 6/1 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Rickie Fowler (11/1), Hideki Matsuyama (11/1) and Gary Woodland (16/1). The 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic takes place Thursday-Sunday from the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan.
Bet on the Rocket Mortgage Classic
Rickie Fowler 11/1
It’s hard to pinpoint much about this event since it’s the first time these players will be competing there. I like Fowler to come away with the win this weekend as he is the face of Rocket Mortgage and will put a little extra effort into this inaugural tournament as the spokesperson for the event. This year, Fowler has missed just one cut and already has a victory to his name. This field isn’t overly strong, so I think he can work his way to the top.
Chez Reavie 25/1
Back-to-back wins are not easy to come by in the PGA Tour, but Reavie is really on a nice run right now and I think he has good value at 25/1. He is coming off his first win in four years last week and he also had a great showing in the U.S. Open, placing third. Over his last five events, Reavie has four top-18 finishes. I think he will continue his hot streak this weekend.
Rory Sabbatini 50/1
Sabbatini is a dark horse that I like this weekend as he has been steadily in contention during the tour this year. He has made 11 straight cuts while finishing in the top 20 in four of his last six tournament. That includes three top-10 finishes. While Sabbatini hasn’t had a win since 2011, I think he has a chance to really shock this field this weekend. He has to have some confidence built over the last few months.
