The American Express Predictions
The 2020 PGA Tour moves out to California this week for The American Express. Here’s the golfers we like to contend for the win in this weekend’s tournament.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rickie Fowler is the favorite this week with 11/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Sungjae Im (16/1), Paul Casey (22/1) and Tony Finau (22/1). The 2020 American Express takes place Thursday-Sunday from TPC Stadium Course at PGA West in La Quinta, California.
1000 Rickie Fowler 11/1
Fowler is on a really nice run right now heading into this tournament. He has finished in the top 20 in four straight and in the top 10 in four of his last six tournaments. With this field lacking in a lot of star power, Fowler should be in position to really make a run at a victory. He is 22nd in the world rankings right now, but has been playing much better than his ranking over the last few months.
1002 Tony Finau 22/1
Finau comes into this tournament as the top-ranked player in the field at No. 15 in the world rankings. While Finau hasn’t won since 2016, he has been a very consistent contender and is due to break through and get back to a victory soon. He has finished in the top 10 in six of his last 10 tournament and just has a smooth, steady swing that you can rely on. If Finau is on his game with his putting, he definitely can break this winless streak.
1005 Billy Horschel 33/1
Horschel hasn’t played this year as of yet, but he had a pretty solid showing to end the 2019 season. Over his last 10 tournament, Horschel missed just one cut and had five top-10 finishes. He set a career-high for top-10 finishes in 2019 and missed the fewest cuts (3) that he had since becoming a full-time PGA Tour member. I like that consistency in a field that doesn’t have a lot of big names. Horschel should be able to flourish this weekend and make a push for his first win since 2017.
