According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Crimson Tide are 44-point home favorites versus the Golden Flashes while the over/under currently sits at 50 points, down from the opening number of 52. Alabama opened as a 43-point favorite before the line was bet up.

The Golden Flashes have failed to cover the spread in nine of their lat 12 games overall and are just 11-23 against the number in their last 34 non-conference games as well. They’re also just 1-6 at the betting window in their last seven games versus a team with a winning record and are 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 games coming off an ATS win.
The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, has been a great bet at home, covering in five of their list six games at Bryant-Denny Stadium. They’ve also been a solid bet in non-conference games, covering in four of their last five games out of the SEC. Alabama is 7-3 at the betting window in their last 10 games overall as well.

OUR PREDICTION: The Golden Flashes have some talent on defense, namely safety Nate Holley and senior defensive end Terence Waugh. But the problem for Kent State today is that its defense is going to be on the field way too long. The Golden Flashes are led by redshirt freshman quarterback Mylik Mitchell, who leads an offense that is 119th in the nation in yards per game (299.0) and 117th in passing yards per contest (139.7). If the Golden Flashes can’t sustain drives then their defense will be hung out to dry. This is a big number, but ‘Bama should be able to cover it.
