Browns vs. Eagles Pick
Will Carson Wentz lead the Eagles to a victory in his NFL debut when Philadelphia hosts the Browns today at 1:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Eagles are 3.5-point home favorites versus the Browns, while the over/under currently sits at 41 points. The biggest line movement in this game has gone from the total, opening at 45 but dropping all the way down to 41 points.
Wentz will make his debut following the Eagles’ decision to trade starter Sam Bradford to the Vikings in exchange for a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick that could change to a second-round pick depending on how Minnesota does this season. Wentz was the second overall pick in April’s draft and will quarterback a Philadelphia team that is in the midst of a rebuild following the hiring of Doug Pederson this offseason.
While Wentz is making his pro debut today, Robert Griffin III will make his Cleveland Browns debut. New head coach Hue Jackson and the Browns thought so highly of RGIII that they decided to bypass on the opportunity to take Wentz at No. 2 in April and traded the pick to the Eagles (who subsequently took Wentz). After moving down, the Browns eventually selected receiver Cory Coleman from Baylor.

OUR PICK: The home team is a perfect 4-0 in against the spread in this matchup while the Browns are just 1-4 against the number in their last five road games. They’re also 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games overall and are 3-13-2 ATS in their last 18 season openers. Pederson, a former quarterback, should put Wentz in a good position to succeed today. Look for a lot of short, quick throws to negate Cleveland’s pass rush and allow Wentz to build his confidence up and get into a rhythm.
