Jaguars-Saints to be a shootout?
In a game with no playoff implications on the line, the Saints will host the Jaguars at 4:05PM ET today.
The big storyline surrounding this game is the availability of New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees. He suffered a foot injury in the Saints’ loss to the Lions on Monday night and even though he has every intention of starting, Brees missed practice on Thursday. He also confirmed that he’s dealing with a Grade 2 torn plantar fascia.
If Brees does play, this game has the makings of a shootout. The Saints rank 32nd in points allowed this season, surrendering 30.9 points per contest. They’re also 31st in total yards allowed (413.5), 30th in passing yards allowed (276.4), and 32nd in rushing yards allowed (137.1).
Seeing as how New Orleans also ranks third offensively in total yards per game (395.3), is first in passing yards per game (303.2) and is ninth in points per game (25.0), they often make the perfect “over” bet. The Jaguars also have the capability to not only score offensively (24.5/12th in the league), but also surrender plenty of points as well (27.1/30th).
According to oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu, the over/under for today’s game is sitting at 51.5 points. It should be a shootout in the SuperDome, so take the over 51.5 and check out more from Totals Authority. You can also purchase picks by clicking here.
