Will Cavs end Thunder’s win streak?
Will the Cavaliers put an end to the Thunder’s six-game win streak when the two teams clash in Cleveland tonight at 8:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Cavs are now 3-point home favorites for tonight’s matchup with the Thunder after opening as a 3-point favorite. As for the total, it opened at 205.5 before being bet down a half point to 205.
As a home favorite this season, the Cavs are just 4-7 against the spread and are 5-10 against the number this season coming off a win. But those numbers are a bit deceiving.
In those 11 games that Cleveland has been a home favorite, its won by an average margin of 6.4. And in those 15 games in which the Cavs are coming off a win, they’ve won by an average margin of 6.9.
Thus, the Cavs have been overpriced at times this season when they’re at home and when they’re coming off wins. But they’re still winning by a healthy average, even if they’re not cashing at the betting window.
The Thunder is red-hot, winning six straight games and covering the spread in four of their last five games. But of those six games that Oklahoma City has won, only the Hawks rank among the top 15 in defensive efficiency. The Thunder has beat up on Utah (twice), Sacramento, Portland and Memphis, which all rank in the bottom half of the league in defensive efficiency.
The Thunder will be tested tonight by a Cavs team that ranks 8th in defensive efficiency and is on its own winning streak at three games.
