Blue Jays vs. Red Sox Prediction
Even though both teams have plenty of firepower offensively, will today’s Blue Jays-Red Sox clash at 4:05PM ET be low-scoring for bettors?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Red Sox are -145 money line favorites over the Blue Jays, who are +125 money line underdogs for today’s contest in Boston. With Marco Estrada set to face David Price in the pitching matchup, the total for today’s game is sitting at 8 runs, down from 8.5.
Bet Today’s Blue Jays vs. Red Sox Game
Edwin Encarnacion homered twice and drove in all three of Toronto’s runs on Friday against the Red Sox. After missing the entire Grapefruit League season due to an oblique injury, Encarnacion has found his stroke. He hadn’t homered this season, but surely more long balls are to come off his bat now that he’s finding his timing.

For the Sox, Travis Shaw doubled in two runs and walked twice in the win over the Blue Jays. He’s hitting .308 on the year with a .900 OPS and has played solid defense at third base after winning the starting job this spring. Shaw’s presence has eased the fact that the team is now receiving nothing from massive 2015 free agent acquisition Pablo Sandoval (shoulder).
OUR PREDICTION: The under is 5-0-1 in Estrada’s last six starts and is 4-0-1 in his last five road starts. The under has also cashed in eight of the Red Sox’ last 10 home games and is 6-0 in their last six home games versus an opponent with a losing road record. With two excellent pitchers on the mound today at Fenway, look for a low-scoring game in Boston.
