Tonight’s pitching matchup has Ricky Nolasco (4-11, 5.13 ERA) on the mound for the Angels to face Carlos Carrasco (10-4, 3.62) of the Indians. Nolasco has had two very poor outings surrounding one good one. He has allowed 14 earned runs over two starts of 5.2 innings total sandwiched around a 1-run, 7-inning start against the Rays. On the season, Nolasco has 92 strikeouts with 31 walks and a 1.38 WHIP. Carrasco hasn’t been tremendous, but better than Nolasco as of late. He has allowed 10 earned runs over his last four starts, a total of 26.1 innings. He has 130 strikeouts this season with 31 walks and a 1.10 WHIP.

The Indians took the series opener on Tuesday night with an 11-7 victory. Cleveland has now won six straight meetings with the Angels, dating back to last season. The Indians are now 53-45 overall and 26-24 at home while the Angels are 49-52 overall and 22-29 on the road.

Tuesday’s game actually went 11 innings and saw it come to an end on a grand slam from Edwin Encarnacion. It was his 21st homer of the season. Cleveland actually established a 7-0 lead in the second, but then saw that lead slowly disappear. The Indians ran Jesse Chavez after just 2.1 innings. Mike Clevinger didn’t last much longer, going just 4.1 innings for Cleveland. Encarnacion finished with two hits while Bradley Zimmer had three hits and four RBI for the Indians. Kole Calhoun and Luis Valbuena each had three RBI for the Angels to lead them in the loss.

Bet on Angels vs. Indians

Both teams went deep into their pen on Tuesday. The Angels used seven different arms while Cleveland had seven toe the rubber as well. That should play a factor today. Nolasco hasn’t been getting deep into games as of late, while Carrasco has been able to manufacture innings despite not having his best. Look for Carrasco to help his bullpen and lead the Indians to another win tonight.
